USAID builds people’s confidence in democratic systems by engaging citizens to participate and feel heard. USAID partners with the Government of Ecuador (GOE), civil society organizations (CSOs), municipal governments, and local communities to guarantee essential services reach the people who need them most.

By supporting the implementation of the Open Government Partnership (OGP), Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), and public procurement transparency, USAID supports the GOE in addressing the shared priority of tackling corruption and abuse of the system. Greater public procurement transparency helps prevent corruption and enhances the foreign investment climate. Our work supports Ecuador in administering fair and transparent elections, enables civil society to combat disinformation and promote municipal transparency, improves public entities' cybersecurity, encourages civil society accountability, and promotes greater political participation of women and youth. USAID is helping Ecuador restore people's trust in their public institutions and recover from the current economic crisis.
