Press Release

October 20, 2023, PRISTINA – Last week, Ms. Eileen Devitt was sworn in as USAID Kosovo Mission Director at a ceremony officiated by USAID Administrator Samantha Power. The U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo Jeffrey M. Hovenier, USAID Special Deputy Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia Lisa Magno, USAID staff, and friends and family participated in the virtual ceremony.

In her remarks, Administrator Power highlighted Ms. Devitt’s resilience, “Most people you know who have taken on such jobs, who for example have navigated civil wars to help the people caught up in the crossfire, people who have gone to some of the world’s most difficult disaster zones to rush aid to people in need: they will talk about it. They will let you know that they have performed those roles. But Eileen will almost never tell you about her experiences in these challenging environments. So that is my job, today.”

Ambassador Hovenier in his remarks highlighted USAID's role in Kosovo's development. “Around the globe and here in Kosovo, USAID programming is a critical component of achieving U.S. foreign policies. As Secretary Blinken recently remarked at the UN General Assembly alongside Administrator Power: “where the rubber meets the road is in the work of USAID. “

Ms. Devitt arrived in Kosovo and assumed her duties as USAID Mission in Kosovo Director.
